Head lice issue can actually happen to anyone. They have no qualms about invading the head of the most impeccably clean and well to do child. Yes you shampoo and comb and brush your child’s hair every single night but that really doesn’t matter at all. Head lice manifestations can happen to any children. But how far do we know about these parasites? Well, let me give you an idea just how they do their work on your scalp.
Head lice found on the scalp are doing their job: eating and making babies. Head lice need our warmth to survive. Hence, eggs laid in cases glued to our hair called nits, will be found within a millimeter or two of the scalp. Eggs will hatch within a few days, and nits found within a centimeter of the base of a hair shaft suggest an active infection. Head lice feed on their human host by sucking blood from the skin. The head lice saliva or feces can cause an itchy, inflammatory reaction. And in worst cases, some affected chldren may develop infected sores from scratching so much. So parents complain more of these kids having trouble sleeping unaware of the bugs on their children’s heads.

There has been a lot of lice shampoos available right now that helps remove lice from hair scalps. Also there are new hair lotions available such as Malathion, that was just recently released in the market. There are also other topical hair lotions out there as well as hair lice shampoos and conditioner. With the range of anti-head lice product out, there are still ongoing research studies available for better treatment.
